Avec seulement 5% des pièces originales de la B, la RV8 marqua le retour en 1992 du badge octogonal sur une voiture conçue dès l’origine pour être une MG.
12 ans après l’arrêt de la production de la B, cette renaissance fut cependant timide avec seulement 2000 modèles produits, la plupart ayant été vendus au Japon.
